Edward C. Cooley has seventeen years of experience trying both bench and jury cases. His practice focuses on business litigation, insurance defense, and employment defense. Mr. Cooley's clients include individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and unincorporated associations. Mr. Cooley has tried, mediated, and arbitrated cases covering a wide range of issues including breach of fiduciary duties in limited partnerships and closely held corporations, performance and breach of contracts, statutory construction of pension rights, enforceability of non-competition covenants, bad faith lender practices, and other contractual and business matters. He has briefed and argued appeals to the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the Supreme Judicial Court, and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. He also has a substantial employment law practice and has litigated cases under Federal and State Law before administrative agencies and in the Trial Courts of Massachusetts, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Mr. Cooley's reputation among trial attorneys has earned him an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbel, the highest rating possible.
Edward C. Cooley was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on June 29, 1962. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (B.S., 1984) before attending Suffolk University Law School where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 1987. He was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1987.
